Suspects brag about stealing $1,900 from wallet

Sunday, September 27, 2009
A wallet containing $1,900 in $100 bills and several more $20 bills was taken from a Tillett's Trailer Park home overnight Wednesday, police said.

The victim named two suspects who he was told were bragging about spending the money, police said.

City building entered

Fifteen gallons of gas were stolen from a truck and money taken from two vending machines overnight Wednesday at the Shelbyville Public Works building, Industrial Parkway, police said.

Investigators said entry may have been gained through an unlocked window.

Drug charge

A drug suspect handed over marijuana when asked if he had illegal substances in his car Wednesday night, police said.

John Maurice Miller III, 34, Sims Road, was in the car outside a Maplewood Drive home when Officer Waymond Boyd was checking on another matter at the home.

Boyd said he noticed Miller "doing a lot of moving around," checked the car and saw a switchblade knife in the back seat.

Miller gave Boyd a bag containing 2.19 grams of marijuana and the pipe he used to smoke the substance.

Charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a weapon were filed against Miller, who posted $5,000 bond.

Ok, my question is, who in the heck keeps that kinda money in their wallet?

Drug dealer or illegal alien?

I think it is rude to insult the victims of this crime.

It's an honest question.

The victim might have done some legitimate business (even as an agent for another party) and not had time to make a deposit.

The person in question might even have collected rent payments.

Some folks are frugal enough to live the simple life on a cash basis and hope that a low profile and good fortune will spare them the obvious drawbacks of such a lifestyle.

I've had cash on me when I've sold livestock,Blue Ribbons or done some turnaround deals at auctions.

It's not a comfortable practice even when the sums are small and the circumstances secure.

But,people of the old school (or folks who deal with customers that might be "paid off the books") might assume the risks and avoid the perks of turning the greenbacks into money orders, secured checking and savings or plastic.

Of course,NOW,criminals will have even more justification for trying to hit the people who can least afford a loss as well as the well-to-do.

I wonder what their response will be when the next trailer park resident they rob hasn't been more thrifty than houseproud and is doing well to make ends meet.

Unfortunately, such a victim may well face serious medical bills as well as theft or vandalism when the crooks punish them for dashing the thieves' unrealistic expectations.

All I got to say is when I had a camera stolen from my home and I went to the commissioners office with a photo of the person who stole it with my camera in his hands they would not do anything. YEP our tax dollars ar work. I also know this girl who did time in bedford county for filing a false police report (she got raped). The cops turned it around and charged her. Well guess what the guy who did that to her got busted for sexual assult on someone else. But she is still on probation and still had to do the time.

Maybe he just sold a car/truck, or took out money he had saved up/or a loan to buy a used car. I can see many reasons why someone would have money like that on them.

hey jtjustice30, not every one that leives in atrailor park is a drug dealer, or illegal. And not everyone thinks that they are better than other people just because they work for the probation office.

One more thing, working for the probation office is not exactly something to brag about!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IM SO TIRED OF PEOPLE THINKING THAT EVERYONE THAT LIVES IN IN A MOBILE HOME PARK ARE SECOND CLASS CITIZENS.I LIVED IN THEM WHEN MY CHILDREN WERE GROWING UP FOR A WHILE CAUSE IT WAS ALL I COULD AFFORD. YES , THERE WERE SOME PEOPLE THERE THAT I DIDNT LIKE HOW THEY LIVED, BUT I ALSO FORMED A LASTING FRIENDSHIP THAT REMAINS STRONG TODAY OVER 30 YRS. LATER WITH ANOTHER YOUNG MOTHER, NOW WE HAVE GRANDCHILDREN IN COMMON AS WELL AS CHILDREN. NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD A BIG FANCY HOUSE ,AND NOT EVERYONE WANTS ONE .SOME OF US JUST WANT TO LIVE COMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE AND BE ABLE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT WITHOUT LIVING BEYOND OUR MEANS.IF U THINK THAT BECAUSE THE AREA OF SOMEONE LIVES IN OR WHETHER THEY KEEP THEIR MONEY IN THEIR BILLFOLD ,THE BANK OR A MASON JAR SAYS THEIR NOT ON THE UP& UP U BETTER THINK AGAIN.HE WHO LIVES CONTENT WITH LITTLE POSSESSES EVERYTHING.
