Fatal wreck on Horse Mountain Road

Rescue workers prepare to remove an accident victim from under his truck on Horse Mountain Road west of Wartrace Saturday afternoon. The truck's driver, who was identified by authorities as Walter Donnie Lloyd, 55, of Coop Road, was thrown from and pinned under the truck. Bedford County Sheriff's Department personnel said it appeared Lynch had lost control on a sharp, hilly curve. The crash site is between Railroad Road and Wartrace-Bell Buckle Road.

This looks like Donnie Lloyd's truck. My 1st cousin and he was fatally injured in a wreck yesterday. My condolences to his brother.

This is Donnie Lloyd. Age 56. We got the call yesterday evening. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Eva Lillian Smotherman Lloyd and Walter Sammuel Lloyd. I know he has 3 sons, but only know the name of Cody. His brother is Jan of Bell Buckle.

Thanks! It isn't who I thought it was but I do know Donnie. Sad, very sad! My condolences go out to his family, may God comfort them in their time of need.

His eldest son is Micheal Lloyd who lives in Virginia. I don't even know if he has been notified. I have known Donnie for over 30 years and he was a terrific guy. My heart and love and prayers go out to all the family.

Who is Michael Lloyd's mother? Diana? There is another son named Ronnie or Donnie who's mother is Carol. We just don't know how to get in touch with the kids. There was another son by an Ellen but no one knows where he even is. Cody is the only one that knows and probably the only one that matters.

I used to work with Donnie Lloyd Jr. His mother is Carol. I called her and she said Donnie is aware of the accident. I don't think I knew his father but my heart goes out to him and to all who loves him. It's tragic to loose a loved one so suddenly and I pray that God will wrap his love around Donnie's family and friends.

Just got a call from Donnie Jr. He ask that I post his phone number on here in hope that someone will call him with any information about the wreck and/or any info on funeral arrangements. I told him I didn't feel comfortable putting his number online, but he wasn't concerned about that, he just wants any information he can get. So please if anyone out there knows anything that can possibly help him, his number is 615-638-9714.

My daughter is Codys girlfriend. I have given Cody Donnie Jrs Phone number but he has not been able to reach him. If there is another way for Cody to get in touch with him that would be helpful......Thanks for your help..

My condolences to all of Donnie's family and friends.

Folks can stay in touch discreetly by having email/Facebook/Twitter/accounts,making a blog,website or private channel on IRC,getting a pay-as-you-go cell phone or getting a post office box and making those numbers and addresses readily available.

This way,people can be reached easily yet choose how much exposure they want to the public.

When people know how to contact a doctor or funeral home,they can pay their respects and leave contact information for family and friends should they wish to respond.

The alternatives mentioned first work for happier times such as virtual class and family reunions.

There wouldn't be as much risk of stalking and other forms of harassment if contact were limited to specific channels.

(Have one "public" place to be found that can lead to others that are invitation only.)

The non-contract cell phone,online access,P.O. box,etc. can serve as safe bases of operations for personal use and business transactions including eBay,freecycle and craigslist.

Any of these can be terminated when no longer needed or compromised.

Times like these show how much we need ways to make and maintain ties to one another in our mobile and fragmented society.

Graveside services for Donnie Lloyd will be held at 1:00 p.m Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Crossroads Cemetery in Shelbyville. There will be no visitation prior to the services. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery in Bell Buckle. (Crossroads is on Coop Rd)

are you sure about the funeral arrangements? my sister tootie is trying to find out any information she can on this situation. she has dated donnie off and on for the last thirty one years and has been with him on for the last eight years. she is traumatized by the accident and she cant get any ansewrs from anyone. she has been there for him through his hards times and good times and most recently with his stroke, brain surgery, etc. when no one else was there for him. i think she deserves to know all that is going on and if anyone can post anything new about what they know would be grateful and help her begin her healing process.

I hope you didn't call Gowen Smith. My brother in law called and they told him 2:00... when I called they said 1:00. We were getting conflicting information too.

Donnie's son Micheal Lloyd is Diane Butler's son.

They both live in Virginia and I have no way of contacting them. I know his close family members know of his son and truly hope they have tried to inform him.
