Lane's effort not enough for Viqs

Friday, October 2, 2009

Community senior Kassidy Lane tormented host Columbia Academy throughout the five-game match Thursday but it wouldn't be enough as the Viqueens fell 3-2. Lane came through with 21 service points, 16 kills and 12 aces.

The Lady Bulldogs won 25-19, 25-23, 15-25, 24-26, 15-9 for their second five-game win over the Unionville girls this season.

"We played really well last night and hit the ball extremely well," Community coach Allison Layne said.

Georgia Ralston contributed 13 points, nine kills and six aces for the Viqueens (2-9). Megan Busbee piled up 14 kills. Tiffany Davis chipped in seven points and four kills. Ashley Orlando served up eight points. Lauren Freeman and Katie Maselter had four kills apiece.

Community heads to Manchester to take on Coffee County on Monday at 5:30 before celebrating Senior Night at home Tuesday.
