Friday, October 2, 2009

Webb's girls showed a flair for the dramatic by getting a last-minute goal to defeat host Middle Tennessee Christian 2-1 on Thursday night.

In the game's final minute, Webb's Katie Jones won a ball and played it across the front of the goal to her teammates. Gowri Gowda put the ball back in front of the net to Melissa Wisniewski, who promptly banged home the game-winner.

"I can't say enough about the whole team tonight," Webb coach Adrian Anderson said. "They played real well, passed the ball real well."

Sara Sims launched a ball from roughly 20 yards out that found the back of the net to put the Lady Cougars on top 1-0.

Jones scored the tying goal off an assist from Karly Grissom.

Lady Feet goalkeeper Caroline Smith backed a tight defense with eight saves.

"I can't say enough about my back line with Anne Windham on the right, Claire Coop in the middle and Shelby Brady on the left. They played great tonight and kept (MTC) out of the goal," Anderson said.
