"We're going to have to postpone it for two weeks," said Pimental Wednesday morning. "The field where we park the cars is too wet, and it's supposed to rain tomorrow and a 70 percent chance on Friday."
The field, by the Wartrace Horse Show grounds, is notorious for flooding. During the rainy Wartrace Horse Show, many trailers and other vehicles had to be towed out of the mud.
"I had to cancel or postpone, so we decided to postpone it for two weeks," said Pimental, who underwent heart surgery shortly after Labor Day. "It will be on Oct. 24 instead."
This will be the 11th trail ride he's put on. They've ridden in the rain before, but even if the weather is sunny Saturday, the risk of mired trailers is too much.
Last year, more than 400 horses and riders took to the trails, with about 500 at the luncheon. It costs $10 per person to ride and all of the money goes to a charitable cause. Lunch is served midday on the ride with the food and drink provided by the Pimental family. During the lunch, awards are handed out and a live bluegrass band performs.
If you go
The trail ride will begin at 10 a.m. Oct. 24 and costs $10, which includes lunch. Trailers should be parked at the Wartrace Horse Show grounds and all horses must have a negative 12-month Coggins test. For more information, call Raymond Pimental at 685-9041 or 580-2426.

Please be advised that the strolling Jim trail ride is cancelled for the fall ride until next year due to the unusal rainfalls and the wet field in which we have to park. Thanks for your participation and support in the previous ride. Looking forward to next years ride.
