Cross country teams from Community, Eagleville, Forrest, Hampshire and Shelbyville Central participated in the 13th Annual Community Invitational on Tuesday.

Eagleville ran to first place on the girls side with a top score of 34 points, followed closely by Community (38) and Forrest (67). Other teams didn't have enough to participate to score.

In the boys race, Forrest topped the list with 44 points. Hampshire's 54 points were good enough for second, ahead of Eagleville (63), Community (83) and Shelbyville (103).

Eagleville senior Catlin Philburn completed the 3.1-mile course in a top girls time of 20 minutes, 14 seconds. Eaglette Angel Carrillo placed second (21:41). Four Viqueens finished in the Top 10: Michaela Jones (third, 23:05), Kristen Simmons (fourth, 23:50), Kali Sitz (eighth, 25:48) and Erica Hoffman (tenth, 26:35).

Hampshire's Zach Memire outran all competitors with a top time of 18:18. Vikings Austin Thurber (fifth, 20:18) and Walter Pigford (seventh, 20:27) placed in the Top 10. High finishers for Shelbyville were Juan Lopez (ninth, 20:36) and Gibran Escalona (13th, 20:53).

Community and Shelbyville travel to Bell Buckle for the John C. Freeman meet on Thursday.

Good morning, ref. this story. The correct spelling for Angel Carillo is "Angel Carrillo". I know because I'm her grandfather.

Thank you
