More than $14.4K stolen from truck

Thursday, October 15, 2009

A bank bag containing more than $14,400 in checks and cash was stolen from a delivery truck at a Shelbyville store Tuesday, police said.

The truck, operated by Prime Meats of Tucker, Ga,, was outside La Azteca Market, Madison Street, when the theft occurred around noon Monday, Officer Justin Smith's report said.

The driver told Smith he locked the truck and went into the store for five to 10 minutes. When he returned, he said, the passenger side window had been shattered and a small bag containing the bank bag and a spare uniform was missing.

Two store employees said a security camera showed a white, four-door compact car with black door handles in the parking lot at the time of the incident. No one who had arrived in that car came into the store, police were told.
