It has been a rough season and bumpy road for the Community Vikings. Chances at a victory have been few and far between.

The Vikings (0-7, 0-4 District 9-A) return to Unionville on Friday night against Moore Country (3-4, 0-3) after two weeks on the road.

Despite the frustrations and the disappointments of this season, the Vikes haven't given up.

"We just went back to work on normal stuff (this week)," Community coach Johnnie Frost said. "We've just got to do better at doing what we do. We are still searching for something to give us a spark on offense. We need some momentum; we need something for the kids to hold up and run with and get excited about."

Both squads are coming off losses and are looking for take their first district win of the season. Community fell 45-0 at Cascade and Moore County lost to Donelson Christian 31-14.

The Vikings have made some effort this week during practice to turn things around. The loss to Cascade enabled the squad to reflect on where they have come from and where they're headed. Back to the basics is not enough; the team must build on the basics and run.

"We haven't forgotten the fundamentals, you got to keep working them all the time," Frost said. "It's like a set of stairs. You've gotta walk up the stairs. We go up the same path every day, you've just gotta add another step to it. This week we've tried to add another step to the things that we have to do to make us better blockers and better tacklers, which will help make us more successful. That's basically what it boils down to."

Community and Moore County met earlier this year in a preseason jamboree. The Raiders won 13-0.

The Lynchburg crew disabled the Vikes' running game and tallied 96 yards offensively to Community's total offense of 3 yards.

"We will stick with some of the same things," Frost said. "We will change some schemes defensively and execute some things differently offensively. We will try and spread it out some and we will continue to attack on the ground."

It sounds cliché, but the team must keep their heads in the game.

"I think sometimes, because of our lack of experience, we think too much about things and overanalyze them and it causes us to not be as successful," Frost said. "You've just got to not think so much sometimes, you've got to just go out and react and play. We've got to go out and just play, we can't think about these things all the time. I think we've got a pretty good shot this week to do what we are supposed to and be successful."

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30.

Community's best chance to pick up a win is tomorrow night. Good luck guys from Cascade.
