Man escapes burning SUV

A firefighter from Bedford County Fire Department finishes hosing a Jeep Grand Cherokee from which Patrick Poarch, 25, of Fayetteville escaped after it overturned and caught fire shortly after noon Thursday on U.S. 231 South near the foot of Chestnut Ridge. Poarch, who suffered minor cuts and bruises and was not transported to a hospital, lost control while looking at documents inside the SUV, the Tennessee Highway Patrol said.
