Marijuana discovered in car parked at armory

Friday, October 23, 2009
Officers patrolling the National Guard Armory, South Cannon Boulevard, early Wednesday night made an unexpected find: marijuana in a parked car.

Kristopher Neal McAdams, 35, Woodland Avenue, who was in one of two cars in the back parking lot, allegedly told Officer Waymond Boyd no drugs were in his vehicle. Boyd said he smelled marijuana as he approached the vehicles.

The officer, who said McAdams gave permission for a search, allegedly found a cigarette box with several half-smoked marijuana cigarettes. Drug dog Remy detected a bag containing approximately 15.65 grams of marijuana, two pipes and a grinder. Boyd said.

Approximately 2.91 grams of marijuana were discovered in one of McAdams' pants pockets during a search at Bedford County Jail, according to Boyd.

McAdams was charged with simple possession of a schedule VI drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and introducing contraband into a penal institution and posted $7,000 bond, jail records show.
