The Vikings led 19-5 after one quarter and 38-7 at intermission.
"Our kids played hard tonight and we had a bit of an advantage numbers wise," Community coach Robbie Davis said. "We were able to run a lot of kids at them and fatigue became a factor.
"I was pretty happy with our guys coming out focused and ready to play this game."
Taylor Paschal, Luke Primm and Quinn Frost hit from 3-point range in the third quarter and the Viking defense held Webb to just one field goal by Ben Morris to extend their advantage to 55-9 going to the fourth quarter.
In the final period, Chris Burgoon lit up the scoreboard for the Feet to the tune of eight points. They held the home team to just two points but time wound down on the Blue and Gold's comeback attempt. He finished with 10 points to lead his squad.
Paschal led all scorers with 15 points for the Vikes. Tanner Simmons added 11.
"We are still a work in progress, and we know that we have a long ways to go to be a good team," Davis said. "But we showed that we are capable tonight. That is a good start."
Community 42, Webb 11 (G): Tayhlor Stephenson and Jamie Demonbreum split 16 points between them for the Viqueens.
The Purple and Gold bolted out to an 11-0 advantage before Webb's Montana Bieder ended the streak with a free throw at the 2:24 mark of the first quarter.

"They came out with real good intensity and took control early."
Community kept the pressure on Webb, who was playing with a roster decimated by illness, and led 22-4 at the half.
Stephenson scored four points and Blair Demonbreum added a 3-pointer in the third period to stretch the lead to 34-8 going into the final frame.
Webb's Savannah Burchett answered with a trey from the top of the key in the fourth, but the Viqueens finished strong to account for the final score.
"It was a good start to the season," Hinson said. "We looked pretty good, but we know that we have some work to do to be ready for our next game."
Community travels to Eagleville on Thursday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6.

First of all the coach is a jerk. Did a full court press all the way up to the fourth quarter being up 15 to 20 points. Actually has a good team but would not let them play the game. His biggest thrill was pressing. I can understand comming out and doing a full court press but not when you are up 20 points. Real smart or was you afraid. Again the girls coach is a jerk.
Waterway,
Boy did someone rain on your parade! I agree that pressing to long is normally the sign of a jerk, but this early in the season my guess is he used this opportunity to teach the finer points of the defense to both his first and second squads.
Also, it was your coaches' responsibility to come up with an answer to the press. Normally when the opposing team throws in the towel they will make substitutions to indicate they are not going to take advantage of the other team's generosity. If this happened then I would agree the coach is a jerk, if it did not happen the coach was right in keeping his team in the press.
I also don't understand what you mean "Actually has a good team but would not let them play the game." It sounds to me like they played the game very well. I doubt his biggest thrill is pressing, but their press will be very important part of the game later in the season.
I completely agree with waterway. I have been watching Community Middle School teams (particularly the girls) for years and they have pressed into the fourth quarter even when the other team has few or no points. It must make them feel better about themselves to run up scores and keep 'starters' in even when it's obvious they are not needed. A classy coach will play hard, but realize when he (or she) doesn't need to try and humiliate the other team. That's been hard to find in the Community gym.
Which coach you referring to???
Nevermind...I see you are referring to Coach Hinson. Hmmm....apparently you are small minded to judge someone. Coach Hinson is a good man and a good coach. Both of you have issues.
honda14...as I read the comments against the Community coach, they are strictly about his coaching ethics. I would have to say that you were not at the game and if you were then I think you would at least understand what they are saying. I have watched the Community middle school girls team for the past four yrs and almost from start to finish they are pressing including when they are playing severly weaker teams. And yes, I understand that pressing is part of the game, but so are many other aspects of which it did not appear that he utilized. Also, if you would have seen that Webb only came with a total of six players due to illness, it would have only been common sense for an experienced coach, that they would most likely wear out early in a game and that full time pressing with a lead of 15-20 pts thoughout the entire game was not necessary.
I'm not disagreeing with you. I use to be a high school coach myself....actually at Webb and I know how it feels. True, you don't press when you are up by that many. All I was saying is don't attack him as a person. He is a good man. I played for him in middle school and thought he was a good coach. Thats my opinion. Thats all I was saying.
Coach Hinson is a genius at winning with the talent that he has and with a style of play that fits his girls. Last year, he rarely pressed, as his game was post-oriented. He kept the pace slow and still won the county championship. This year, he is playing with speed but their athletic experience is mostly in the game of soccer, not basketball. They got a late start practicing basketball because they went the distance in soccer, winning their conference championship. In their short amount of practice time, they worked on pressing. It would not make sense to not practice this stategy in this, their first game. Coach Hinson "called off the dogs" by playing everyone extensively, not by abondoning his defensive stategy that is tailor-made for this group of girls.
