A Shelbyville man is dead after gunshots rang out during an argument Friday night at a Burt Street apartment complex.
Gary Latron "Tron" Thomison, 21, of Shelbyville was shot multiple times in the parking lot of Oak Hill Village II Apartments, Detective Sgt. Brian Crews of the Shelbyville Police Department said.

The incident began when Simpson and three other persons arrived at the parking lot, Crews said.
"What we know is that four people in a Kia SUV pulled into the parking lot. Tron pulls up and sees Wendy Holman and Kasey Maddox, who was driving the vehicle," Crews said.
Maddox has been dating Simpson, police said, and Holman was described as Thomison's "ex-wife" by Crews.
"An argument began between Tron and Maddox," Crews said. "Tron pushed Casey. Words were exchanged and Holman got out of the SUV and said, 'Tron, they've got guns, they've got guns!'"
Officers said they were uncertain if Thomison knew the men were in the SUV, which was described as having tinted rear side and back windows, before that point.
"Tron walked away and shortly afterwards George exited the vehicle and fired several rounds at Tron," Crews said.
Simpson allegedly fled in the Kia, which was found abandoned in front of a Madison Street store about an hour later, police said.
Maddox, 19, of Murfreesboro was arrested on a previous drug charge by the 17th Judicial District Drug Task Force and has been placed on hold at Bedford County Jail, Crews said. Holman, 26, of Belmont Avenue was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge by patrol officers to maintain order at the scene, Crews said, due to fears a "riot" might break out.
Officers said they want to talk to Brandon Holmes, who was also at the scene. "He was there and has information we need," Crews said.
Thomison's body has been taken to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy and to determine how many times he was shot, according to Crews.

i hope trons friend run into him before the police do.
Sounds like a lovely bunch.
To Tron's friends and family, may God be with you during this tragedy. RIP Tron. I hope they catch him..
didlivethere,
Are you saying you hope a friend of the deceased finds this guy & kills him before the police are able to arrest him? If so, you are heartless. From this senseless killing two families have been destroyed. Let's just get someone else involved & destroy another family.
Wow!!! What ever happened to an old fashioned fist fight? Nobody does that anymore!!
I think this is so sad and very tragic. A young man lost his life. Regardless of the life he lead, he was still a human being and he has family that cared. The Simpson family will also suffer and struggle with "why". These tragic collisions of "choices" made will effect both these families forever.
Sadly, this is one part of the human condition.
Personally I hope the police find him first it is bad enough that there could be people hunting this shooter looking to kill him but this time could be much worse if innocent people are in their way.
This is very sad that such young people want to ruin their lives like this and for what? What exactly is worth killing another human being over?
It makes no difference if this young man was the biggest dealer on the streets or the most influential preacher in town. He lost his life because someone chose to point a gun at him and fire. Both of these men have friends and families who love them and my heart goes out to them. This is not the time to blame, point fingers or throw out false allegations. It is times like these that we should be standing in support of those who are suffering the unimaginable loss of a loved one and friend.
It looks like George Aaron "G" Simpson
is hiding the weapon in his mouth in the picture.
I agree with workinghardforgmine, whatever happened to old fashoned fist fights? kids now days act like they have never had any training or parental guidance. back in the day kids would fight one day and friends the nexts! somebody please tell me what happened to those days.
Here comes the drama...

Things changed when it got to the point you would likely serve about as much time over a fist fight than murder.
Jails are a business with expenses. Income is needed to service the expenses. Local jails are paid on a per prisoner basis. D.A.'s need to fill the jails and cover expenses.
Anyone ever stopped to wonder why crime rates go up when bigger jails are built in a town?
Rest assured if this town built a jail twice as large as the one they have now you will see a rise in arrest.
Let the town build one four times as large as the one they have now and they will resort to arresting 5th graders off the playground for scuffles to fill the bunks.
can someone please tell me if this is the tron that played football at central?
Its so sad that a man's (or anyone's) life is taken over nothing. It doesnt matter the color of a man , it matters the condition of his heart. I shed tears over a soul. We must even pray for the soul and the heart of the man who felt he had to kill.I pray for the families of both individuals.
Does anyone know if they have caught this person yet?
I knew, and concidered Tron a friend. To all his family and friends I know what a loss you feel. I will keep you all in my prayers tonight.
I don't know anyone envolved here, but whatever he did or has done in his past has no bearing over the fact that he was murdered in cold blood. My heart goes out to his family and friends. And may god have mercy on the man who did this soul...I know I couldn't.
Old George thought he be tough and live a TV drama. Got to take somebody out. He is about to hit reality head on and spending the rest of his life with Bubba ain't the way Hollywood shows it. Hope he likes boys.........
Further proof that "Thug Life" is no life. Dead is just as dead and life in prison isn't some stupid reality show. But I guess ole George has got him some of that "gangsta street cred" now. We'll just have to see how that works out for him when he's no more than a broken down old convict.

So you would rather that criminals be allowed to go free? And you seriously refer to yourself as having some "common sense"?
guns....everybody has them...its too late to change that...this is so sad because it didn't have to be this way....people do what people see and this same scenario has been acted out on television every night, what are we gonna do?

Yep, I suspect Ol George will be spending some time with Bubba, but since George is only 24, I seriously doubt that he will be spending the rest of his life with Bubba, unless someone takes George out early. You see they have to release murderers & rapist early, so they can make room for the non violent pot smokers and other drug abusers that make up the majority of the prison population.
bunchabull -
Actually if the shooter is convicted of 1st degree murder the state only has three sentence options;
1. Death - Must be sought by the DA on the front end of the prosecution. Requires a bifurcated trial/penalty phase.
2. Life Without Possibility of Parole - same as Death.
3. Life - This sentence requires the convicted to serve 85% of 65 years or 55 years and change before parole. This sentence makes this particular shooter first eligible for parole at age 79.
There are no sentence reductions or "good time" credits for homicide offenses.
I hope commonsense doesn't run for any public office. With his mentality, we would all have to be armed daily because the jails would close and criminals, rapists and drug dealers would be running wild. Dodge City would have nothing on the streets of Shelbyville! As for bunchabull, boy, did you pick the right name! Where do you think most of the murderers, etc come from? I dare say statistics would prove that most murders are drug or alcohol related, so yes, the penal institution is the right place for these people also.
I know of people who have received a life sentence for 1st degree murderl and was on the streets in less than 5 years. Has a lot to do with who you know. I know 1 case several years ago when a shot 3 men killed 1 outright put another in a wheel chair for the rest of his life. He only served 1 year in the pen; and he was the Governor's chauffer for a year; had his own room, and was never locked down, as he might be called on at any time day or nite to drive. So it is who you knowq or who you pay. These are facts.
Schooldaze, First of all ol George ain't even been arrested yet. Assuming that he will be arrested and CHARGED with 1st degree murder is one thing, but I seriously doubt that he will be convicted of that charge. He will probably be back out on the street in 12 to 15 years.
writeattitude, Thanks for your opinion (not really) and I would really like to see those statistics. I see lots of folks arrested for possession, DUI and other drug & alcohol related offenses in the jail intake, but I don't see very many of them that have 1st degree murder charges along with them.
FYI, you aren't dealing with some podunk, tobacco chewing redneck cop from around here. I have investigated and assisted in prosecuting many 1st and 2nd degree murders in my previous employment. It is true that drugs and alcohol are involved in some of these, but in my experience it was less than a majority.
My whole point is this: A violent offender should never be released early to make room for any non violent offender whether it is for a drug, alcohol or property crime.
I have never understood why all the intelligent, super-educated, multi-experienced, know-it-alls from all these mysterious "previous places" find themselves transplanted to such a "red-necked" "podunk" and ignorant place as so many like to classify our little town. Do they come here just to make derisive remarks about southern cities or to "superimpose" all their cultured intelligence upon us, trying to make themselves seem more important or better qualified than all those who have lived, worked and built this town. I won't argue with your qualifications or your expertise, but PLEASE,PLEASE, PLEASE, to anyone who lives in this town and yet has such distain for its people, its culture and its tradition, let me be the first to bid you to LEAVE! We probably didn't invite you here in the first place. Either be proactive in making a positive effort toward bettering it or go back to where things were obviously so perfect. I'm sure you would be much happier there and we would be happy to see you go. We understand and care for each other here, we try to protect the innocent, care for the needy, educate our children, and provide for our families the best we can. I am so sick of everyone who posts on this site making derrogatory remarks about our law enforcement, our judges, our residents, our government and our town in general. Are we all perfect, NO! Neither are we the neanderthals people make us out to be. People are people wherever they call home. If this doesn't feel like "home" to you, then go home!
All I will say is that this article started out with comments remembering tron and his family and then many of you can seem to do nothing but argue between each other about the mentality or people living here and how the law works in regards to criminal offenses. I think instead of being concerned with defending yourselves you have lost sight of what is more important and that is remembering that someone has lost there life.
Anotha brutha lost to dis street game. Wat i cant seem to undastand is,while dat man was layn there dyin. Shelbyville finest was to busy tryna arrest 1 of his bestfriends bc he was telln people to bac up. Then thu paramedics pull up and they wher taken ther time to get to him. Then they wonda y people aint tlkn,bc we aint cool wit them just like they aint cool wit us. Task force was 1st on thu scene and he checkn his pockets. FOR WAT!!!! THEY DNT GIVE A $@#^ BOUT US!!! I HOPE THU STREETS DO GET HIM BEFOE THEY DO!! I WANT THEY FAM TO HURT JUST LIKE WE DO!! WE CLD CARELESS BOUT THU POLICE!!! EYE FU AN EYE!!!! PERIOD!!!!
I have read each and every word of each and every article and comment. I am not a detective but I do watch CSI.
All of this who's the blame and who should've done what is senseless. None of us know how we would have reacted if we were put in this situation.
There are some questions I have been waiting to see but I have yet to see them. Why were they there in the first place none of them lived there? Was it a set-up? The 4 people in the KIA pulls up and Tron pulls in and blocks it in- was it a setup by Tron? Or a set up by the shooter? Who had them both come to this location? Whoever did that needs to be answering some questions and do some deep soul searching. They seemed to prepared for it to be an accidental meeting.
Hillboy,
Maybe you should spend less time 'on the streets' nd go back to school or get some tutoring.
Are you deliberatly speaking 'thug' or or you just that illiterate?
