Police name Holmes as murder suspect

Thursday, October 29, 2009
A man previously termed as a "person of interest" will be charged with murder in a Friday shooting death, Shelbyville police said Wednesday.

"Based on evidence we have, we can now charge Brandon Holmes with first degree murder," Detective Sgt. Brian Crews of the Shelbyville Police Department said Wednesday.

"Early on in the investigation we determined both George Simpson and Holmes were involved in the shooting," Crews said. "From evidence we have we were able to determine only one weapon was fired."

Holmes, 21, is still at large today, Crews said.

Officers have been searching for Holmes, who police say is also known as "BG", since shortly after Gary LeTron Cordelle "Tron" Thomison, 23, of Shelbyville was shot multiple times in the torso at Oak Hill Village Apartments, Burt Street.

George "G" Simpson, 24, of Murfreesboro was arrested there early Tuesday in connection with the case, police said.
