Clanton honored for flume work

Shelbyville Public Works Director Mark Clanton, right, received the prestigious Charles Walter Nichols Award from Mark Macy, vice-president of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Public Works Association, at the chapter's annual conference in Kingsport on Oct. 26. The award is given annually "to recognize outstanding and meritorious acheivements in the public works field." Clanton was nominated by former city manager Ed Craig and city engineer Will Owen for his leadership, dedication and outstanding effort in managing the city storm water flume collapse and repair from May 2 to July 3 this year.
