Shelbyville Central faces a tall task with its season on the line as it travels to battle second-ranked Clinton in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs.

Kickoff is Friday night at 6 CST.

The second-seeded Dragons (9-0) won District 3-AAA and have outscored opponents 346-157.

The eighth-seeded Golden Eagles (5-5) make their second trip to the postseason in the past three years. They fell 42-14 at Clarksville in 2007. Their last playoff victory came against Pearl Cohn in 2003.

The winner gets the victor of No. 3 seed Anderson County (7-3) and No. 6 White County (1-9).

The game will be played at the middle school in Clinton, which is roughly 202 miles from Central depending on the route. The address is 101 S. Hicks St. in Clinton.
