Jason McGee has announced his candidacy for Bedford County trustee in the May 4, 2010, Democratic primary.

McGee, a lifelong resident of Bedford County, has been office administrator for Bedford County Highway Department / Bedford County Solid Waste Authority since 2000 and serves as secretary for Bedford County Road Board. Prior to joining the highway department, he worked in customer service for Jostens in Shelbyville.

McGee graduated from Shelbyville Central High School in 1988 and from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in business administration in 1993. He and his wife Dana, a legal secretary, have two children.

McGee is a member of Edgemont Baptist Church and sings in the Edgemont Quartet. He has been involved with community sports for years and has coached in Bedford County Youth Baseball, Babe Ruth League, Hillard Gardner Softball and church league softball. He is a member of the Shelbyville Quarterback Club, the Liberty Lions Club and the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders' and Exhibitors' Association.

"I love working with people and working for this community," said McGee, "as I have done so for many years. If elected, I will strive to continue the existing level of service provided by the current trustee department and will work on creating even better ways to serve the people of Bedford County."
