Woman loses life on ice-slick road

Tuesday, December 8, 2009
A Shelbyville woman was killed and another driver seriously injured in a head-on crash on ice-coated Fairfield Pike Saturday morning, officials say.

Anmarielines Rodriquez Taylor, 26, of Bell Buckle died in a LifeFlight helicopter while being transported from the scene to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, officials say.

Taylor lost control on ice and slid into the path of a pickup truck driven by Terry B. Williams, 37, of Shelbyville according to a report filed by State Trooper David Hill.

Another helicopter flew Williams to VMC, officials said, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

Williams' young daughter Cameron suffered minor injuries and is being treated at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, according to investigators.

The road was covered with a thin, sleet-like ice which appeared wet to the eye following light snow earlier in the morning.
