The wreck that took place on an ice-slick Fairfield Pike claimed the life of a woman and now threatens the livelihood of another man. Brent Williams, 37, was the driver of one of the cars involved in the accident that killed Anmarielines Rodriquez Taylor, who was driving the other car. Williams' 10-year-old daughter Cameron was in the car with him. Taylor died en route to Vanderbilt, where Williams and his daughter were also taken.
Since then. Williams has been in the trauma unit at Vanderbilt where he faces multiple surgeries and months of rehabilitation.
"He has a lot of injuries," said Mark Henley, who is helping organize the benefit. "He had some swelling on the brain, cracked vertebrae, broken ribs, two broken legs, a crushed heel and some hip injuries."
Although Williams, who is self-employed with the Williams Brothers Construction company he owns with his cousin Matt Williams, had insurance, the family will need more help.
"He will be unable to work and provide the income he normally does," said Henley.
The event takes place on New Year's Day, beginning at noon at the church on U.S. 231 North with the bake sale. The riders will leave at 1 p.m. for a two-hour tour of the country, enjoying the Christmas decorations on the way as they ride around Woodbury and Murfreesboro.
A hot chili supper will be waiting for them when they get back to the church and the auction will take place while they eat.
"We can use any donations for the auction people want to give," said Henley.
After the chili supper, there will be singing by Two His Glory and the Edgemont Quartet.
Williams' daughter, Cameron, was slightly injured in the wreck, said Henley.
"They kept her overnight at Vanderbilt for observation, but she came home the next day," he said.
