Sexual advances toward minor result in jail time

A Shelbyville man will spend the next 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to charges involving a minor on Wednesday.

Charles Presley Jr., 63, of Landers Street received a sentence of nine months on the charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and another nine months for simple assault, which was amended from a charge of sexual battery by an authority figure.

Both sentences are to be served consecutively, resulting in the 18-month sentence.

According to warrants filed by Detective Lt. Becky Hord of the Bedford County Sheriff's Department, Presley allegedly asked a juvenile to have sex with him while at her residence and "did grab ... the juvenile female while trying to take her to the bedroom."

Presley is also accused of buying cigarettes for the minor as well, resulting in the charge of contributing.
