Thief steals Bible from locked car

Three vehicles were entered at two South Cannon Boulevard locations over the weekend, Shelbyville police said.

* A Bible, backpack bearing a "Jesus is Coming" patch, acoustic guitar, digital camera and eight blankets were stolen from a car at Legacy Apartments.

The items were taken from a locked, disabled car which had been parked for several days, the victim said. The car was still locked when the thefts were discovered, according to police.

* An iPod, cell phone, four compact discs and a purse containing cards and documents were stolen from two vehicles at a home near the Lewis Avenue intersection Saturday.

A shoe print in snow beside the car appeared to be from a Nike Shox-style shoe, police said.

Gun found

Two persons walking along Rolling Road in Shelbyville discovered a semi-automatic handgun lying in a yard, police report.

A computer check by police revealed the gun was not stolen.
