Dam releases water

With a weekend of wet weather behind us, TVA began spilling water from Normandy Reservoir on Sunday following nearly two inches of rain. The federal utility has opened one of the two spill gates on the dam and it will remain open until futher notice. The lake is seven feet over winter pool and had this much rain fallen during the summer months, water would have been flowing over the top of the dam. Over four inches of rain have fallen at Normandy Dam since Jan. 16.
