Feet gain control in 2nd half

Wednesday, January 27, 2010
Webb's boys took control in the second half to defeat Lancaster Christian 71-66 at the Barton Athletic Center in Bell Buckle on Tuesday night.

After the visitors took leads of 22-19 and 37-34 into the conclusion of the first two quarters, the Feet squeaked in front 51-49 in the third. The hosts then put 20 points on the board in the final period to help seal the victory.

"We did a good job scoring the ball, but we've got to take care of the ball a little bit better," Webb coach Jeff Mitchell said.

"We had a tough time defending the ball tonight and are really going to have to tighten that up."

The Feet (15-5) were led in scoring by Hunter Foutch's 20 points. Logan Burchett contributed 19 and Miles Davis 18.

Brandon Hathaway carried Lancaster Christian with 20 points. Chris Dansby had 12 and Chase Bargow 11.

St. Cecilia 45, Webb 26 (G): The Lady Feet shot in the neighborhood of 20 percent from the field and turned the ball over 13 times in the first half alone.

"We just shot the ball terribly; we didn't shoot it well at all," Webb coach Scott Dorsett said. "It was kind of a dismal game on our part, unfortunately."

The visitors wasted no time taking control of the contest, carrying a 14-2 lead into the second quarter before owning a 22-10 advantage at the half.

Natalie Goodever topped St. Cecilia in scoring with 14 points.

Elizabeth Lawrence's nine points paced the Lady Feet.

Webb travels to Red Boiling Springs on Friday night.
