Even though schools in Bedford County are not in session today, some high school basketball teams will still take to the hardwood this evening as a rise in temperature and rainfall melts away the snow and ice.

The district schedules are quickly coming to a close and teams are jockeying to get high seeds in their upcoming tournaments.

Shelbyville Central heads west to Columbia for a pair of key District 8-AAA matchups. The Golden Eaglettes (12-7, 5-2 8-AAA) hope to make it a clean season sweep over the Lady Lions after winning the first affair 65-50 in mid-January. The Golden Eagles (12-7, 5-2) sorely need a win over the Lions if they want to own the regular season district plaque.

Cascade will also ride the bus out of town. The Lady Champions (15-7, 7-5 District 9-A) tip off against Middle Tennessee Christian in Murfreesboro at 6. They desperately need to finish the league schedule off with a pair of victories if they want the No. 3 seed for the 9-A tourney in Chapel Hill. The Champions (13-9, 9-3) look to bounce back after a humiliating 40-point loss at Forrest last Thursday.

Community moved its showdowns with Forrest from tonight to Thursday. Both the Viqueens (13-9, 5-6) and the Vikings (6-16, 4-7) played well their last time on the court in losses to rival Cascade, but they are looking for wins and momentum as the postseason rests right around the corner.

Webb is scheduled to visit University School of Nashville tonight.
