Matthew Bradley Burdette, 18, Purdy Court, and Michael Scott Shipley, 32, Shelbyville Mills Road, were charged with auto burglary and possession of burglary tools. They are being held on $11,500 bond each at Bedford County Jail.
"You won't find my fingerprints," Shipley allegedly told Officer Tory Moore. "We were just checking the mileage on the car because when I get my license I might want to buy it."
Moore said he and Officer Jose Garza saw one of the men standing near the car. The man allegedly "ducked," didn't immediately comply to a request to come toward officers with his hands visible, and another man quickly exited the vehicle, Moore said.
The car's compact disc player had been removed, an LED light was found in the car and a screwdriver was on the ground nearby, Moore said.
