Lyles goes for 30, USN downs Feet

Wednesday, February 3, 2010
University School of Nashville piled up 41 points in the middle quarters to help it to a 67-39 win over East/Middle Region visitor Webb on Tuesday.

The Tigers held a slim 12-10 advantage after a quarter but shocked the Feet (15-6, 7-2 East/Middle) with a 20 second-quarter points to go up 32-18 at the half.

"We just got completely got outhustled and outplayed," Webb coach Jeff Mitchell said. "I'm very disappointed in our effort. After that first quarter, they went on that run, and we just did not respond."

The hosts put the game away by outscoring their foes 21-9 in the third frame.

"We just didn't play as a group tonight for whatever reason. The kids are disappointed. I'm disappointed," Mitchell said.

USN's Meiko Lyles was unstoppable much of the evening as the 6-foot-2 shooting guard poured in 30 points. Nilan Hodge contributed 14 and Robby Cobean 11.

Luke Baum and Logan Burchett each had 10 points for the Feet.

USN 74, Webb 41 (G): Elizabeth Lawrence and Kat Coffey split 28 points between them but it wasn't enough for the Lady Feet.

The teams were even at 12-all after a quarter before the Tigers inched ahead 29-24 at the half and extended that advantage to 50-32 by the fourth period.

Jameice Holmes led all scorers with 22 points for USN. Erin Drake had 13.
