Saturday, February 13, 2010
VIDALIA, La. (AP) -- A Shelbyville man and his grandson were killed in a crash early Friday in Concordia Parish, La.

Ronald Dickson, 58, and 4-year-old Bradley Dickson died, according to a Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office release.

Investigators say Bretton A. Dickson, 32, of Shelbyville lost control of his 1999 Chevrolet Suburban about 4:30 a.m., left westbound U.S. 84 and entered Cross Bayou. The Suburban was completely submerged.

One of the victims made his way to a nearby residence seeking help. Rescue workers searched for Bradley Dickson for four hours, the Natchez (Miss.) Democrat reported.

Bretton Dickson was not hurt, the release said. Two passengers, 28-year-old Stephanie Vincent and a 9-year-old boy whose name was not released, had minor injuries and were treated at a Ferriday, La. hospital. Both are from Shelbyville, officials said.

The family was bound for Deville, La., from Shelbyville, the CPSO report said.

None of the occupants were wearing seatbelts, investigators said.
