Webb junior Elizabeth Lawrence scored her 1,000th career point Saturday in what proved to be the Webb girls' final game of the season.

The Lady Feet lost 47-29 to St. Andrew's-Sewanee in the first round of the Division II-A East/Middle Region tournament.

The Shelbyville resident had 999 career points on the books going into Saturday. The benchmark basket came quickly when Lawrence sank a 3-pointer from the corner in the first quarter.

Lawrence acknowledged her 1,000-point achievement gave the team something to celebrate, despite the loss.

"It was a good way to end the season," she said. "It was a positive note."

While it was never a goal of hers, Lawrence said she is happy to have reached and surpassed the feat. Still, she said at times during the last several weeks she doubted if she would achieve it at all. After being alerted by the coaches that she was close, Lawrence said her scoring declined.

"It kind of got in my head," she said. "My last four games I was off in my shooting."

Lawrence said she is looking forward to participating in several basketball camps with her Webb team this summer and working hard to improve her individual game.
