Justin Michael Hosmer, 20, of Fayetteville, was charged with simple possession after Officer David Curkey allegedly smelled marijuana on his breath and in his vehicle.
Hosmer allegedly admitted smoking marijuana earlier in the day but said none was in the vehicle. A partially-smoked marijuana cigarette was found in the ashtray and a "small amount" of loose marijuana in the seat, Curley said.
Charges of simple possession and violation of probation were filed against Hosmer, who was held on $4,000 bond at Bedford County Jail.
CD player stolen
The compact disc player was stolen from a car at a Rock Street home overnight Tuesday, police said.
The car's owner said she had left the car unlocked due to concern about ice freezing the locks.
