Turnovers, Lyles hurt Webb in tourney loss

Sunday, February 21, 2010
Meiko Lyles piled up 22 points to help University School of Nashville trounce Webb 67-26 in the semifinals of the East/Middle Region tournament Friday night at Donelson Christian Academy.

"We just turned the ball over way too much," Webb coach Jeff Mitchell said. "Give them credit, they played extremely hard and made a whole lot of shots."

It was a tight game early with the Feet (19-7) taking a 9-7 lead into the second period.

The Tigers (18-6) erupted for 25 second-quarter points and carried a 33-18 advantage into the half. They then held Webb to just two points in the third frame, compared to 17 of their own, to effectively put the game away.

Nilan Hodge joined Lyles in double-figure scoring for USN with 13 points.

Miles Davis netted nine for the Feet.

The Bell Buckle boys were to take on DCA in the consolation game Saturday.
