Rod Stacy has announced his candidacy for Bedford County Sheriff in the May 4 Democratic primary.

Stacy, a lifelong resident of Bedford County, is a 1988 graduate of Shelbyville Central High School and a member of its undefeated 1987 football team. After graduation, he served in the Tennessee Army National Guard. He joined the Shelbyville Police Department in 1992, attended the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in Donelson and was certified in June 1992. He has retained his certification for the past 18 years.

Stacy was promoted to field training officer in 1997 and has trained numerous new officers since that time.

Stacy has been a committee member and an active volunteer for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life program since 2005. He and his wife Wendy have been married for 16 years and have two children.

"I am proud to have lived and served the public and the citizens of Bedford County in the past, and I look forward to serving you in the future," said Stacy. "If elected, I will work diligently to keep your trust and to enforce the law of this great state."
