Police Chief Austin Swing confirmed to the T-G Wednesday that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating allegations that officer Tory Moore had inappropriate contact with a child.
"We're not looking at this ... the TBI were called in for the investigation," Swing said. "That's really all I know."
Swing described Moore as an "excellent officer" and said that all he knows is that "accusations have been made" against Moore.
"We're just waiting on the results of the investigation, which is ongoing as we speak," Swing said. After the investigation is completed, Swing stated that the TBI would likely turn any evidence over to the district attorney's office.
A TBI spokesperson told a Nashville television station that they haven't taken all the statements that they need to conduct a thorough investigation and they do not know how long the investigation will take.
Moore will receive pay while on leave, but if charges are filed, he would immediately be suspended without pay.
