Pitchfork-armed man wanted drug dealer gone

A pitchfork-carrying man who told Shelbyville police he was trying to run a drug dealer out of his neighborhood was charged with public intoxication Tuesday.

Dean Edward Perry, 43, of White Street, was allegedly standing in the middle of the roadway near his home with the pitchfork in his hands when officer Chris Vest arrived.

Officers had been alerted of a man in the neighborhood carrying a stick.

Perry, who police said smelled of alcohol, was charged with public intoxication.

Thefts

The owner of a Shelbyville laundromat told police he can identify the man who video showed stealing a television Wednesday night.

The man stole the 19-inch Polaroid flat-screen TV from a wall mount at Coin-O-Matic, South Cannon Boulevard, at 10:07 p.m, police were told. He is believed to have arrived in a Chevrolet Blazer or similar SUV with a large decal on its rear hatch window.

The suspect has committed prior thefts at Coin-O-Matic and other laundromats in Shelbyville, the owner told police.

* A purse and contents were stolen from a locked car at Tyson Foods, West Jackson Street, police said.

The victim said the rear door vent window was broken between 6 a.m. and 4:50 p.m.

*Kevin Allen Mallard, 27, Ledgeview Drive; promotion of meth manufacture; held, $20,000 bond

*Justin Lekorri Offord, 20, Knoxville; driving on revoked/suspended license, registration law, evading arrest; held, $8,000 bond

*Dean Edward Perry, 43, White Street; public intoxication; held, $500 bond

*Joe Billy Russell Jr., 36, Goodlettsville; possession of schedule II drug; released, $10,000 bond

*Allen Dale Smith, 45, Murfreesboro; violation of probation; held, $2,500 bond
