Money was taken from desks in the pastor's and secretary's offices and possibly a drink machine in the building, Shelbyville police said, and a saw and two Weedeaters from one of two outbuildings.
The back door was open with glass broken, pastor James Warren told officer Bruce Davis, and the lock was missing from the front door of one of the outbuildings.
Office entered
Small amounts of money and hand tools are missing following weekend break-ins in the office and maintenance shop at Park Trail Apartments, Green Lane.
An employee told officer Mitchell Warren the burglaries occurred between 2 p.m. Saturday and 2:15 p.m. Sunday. All doors were locked when he returned Sunday, police said.
Tools and other items were strewn throughout the shop area and two desks and a file cabined entered in the office, according to police.
Suspect caught
An auto burglary suspect found inside a car at a West End Avenue home had the needed tools in his possession, according to police.
Officers responding to a 911 call noticed a rear window of the car had been smashed and discovered Karl Kerry McCoy II, 38, sitting in the driver's seat. He was ordered out of the car at gunpoint by officer Jody Shelton.
McCoy, who police said lives at a neighboring residence, was allegedly carrying a hammer, vice grips, socket extension, punch, knives and two cell phones in his clothing, along with one marijuana joint.
Charges of auto burglary, possession of burglary tools, vandalism, possession of a schedule VI drug and public intoxication were filed against McCoy, who was being held on $13,000 bond Monday.
Marijuana arrest
A man who allegedly admitted to police he had a marijuana blunt in his hand when he nearly hit a utility pole was charged after a traffic stop Sunday on Midland Road.
Antwan Massey, 29, Hickory Drive, had a bag of marijuana in his clothing and the blunt on the car's front seat when stopped after officer David Curley saw the near-miss.
Massey was charged with possession of schedule VI drug and released on $2,500 bond
Thefts
* A Sony Playstation and seven games, several movies and personal checks were taken from an Elizabeth Street home overnight Thursday, police said.
Entry was gained through a bathroom window, according to Warren's report.
* Auto stereo and equipment, paintball gear, a World War II-era shotgun belonging to the resident's grandfather, two space heaters and shop equipment were stolen from the garage at a Shapard Drive home overnight Saturday.
Several of the items were recovered in a field at Griffin Park behind the house, a report filed by King said. Access to the property was gained by cutting a wire fence in the park.
Trailer set afire
Smoke rising from a trailer owned by Titan Transport Inc. at the Goggin warehouse on Eaton Drive alerted a truck driver to a fire inside Sunday, police said.
Three pallets of transmission fluid inside had been set afire after a seal was broken to gain entry, officer Cody King's report said.
Clarification
Richard Lee Cummings Jr., 24, of Highway 64 West, who was listed in Sunday's jail intake as jailed on an unspecified charge, had actually reported to the jail to serve time on a previous conviction.
