Driver loses it over one too many lost parking places

Thursday, March 18, 2010
Being beaten to parking places got to be just too much for a Shelbyville woman to take Monday, police said.

The woman, who was not charged, admitted smearing lipstick on the window of a car at Kroger, North Main Street, during a "bad day," according to officer Justin Smith's report.

The car's driver notified police of the alleged smearer with a description of her vehicle and license number after a verbal dispute over the parking space, police said. Smith checked the number and went to the woman's home, where she allegedly admitted her actions.

"She said she got upset with the complainant because she took a parking place she had been waiting on," Smith said. "She said she did smear the lipstick on the SUV's window and immediately regretted doing it. She told me that she had been having a bad day and that three parking spaces had been filled by other vehicles as she waited to pull into them."

The woman said she was "sorry" and offered to pay for the victim's vehicle to be cleaned.

Stolen prescription

A prescrption for Vyvanse (a drug for ADHD) was stolen Monday from a truck at Magnolia Motel, South Cannon Boulevard, police said.

Clarification

Troy Henley of Ridgeway Avenue in Shelbyville was charged with public intoxication but no other charges after an incident Saturday night, according to Shelbyville police.

The police report indicates Henley was arrested after allegedly refusing "several commands" to drop a knife while on his knees attempting to enter the front door of his home. Henley dropped the knife after an officer drew his handgun

Officers were responding to a call alleging a man was "trying to break in" at the home, the report said, but no break-in was actually occurring.
