Middle Viqs drop a pair

Community Middle's softball team struggled with Moore County Middle on Tuesday night.

Carolyn Pena and Katie Warrick both smacked a pair of hits but it wasn't enough as the Viqueens fell 8-4 in the first game of a doubleheader.

"The girls played very hard, but we still have a lot to learn about the game," Community coach Erin Haywood said. "They are improving every game, we just have to get our confidence levels up."

Warrick worked four innings on the bump and struck out four.

The Raiderettes broke open a tight ballgame with a five-run third.

Moore County 4, Community 3: In the second half of the double dip, the Raiderettes rallied from a 3-2 deficit with three scores in the fourth to win it.

Kerigan Joslyn singled twice for the Viqueens. Megan Reed doubled and drove in a pair.

Nikki Davis pitched four innings for Community, striking out six and walking five.

The Unionville girls host Cascade for a doubleheader on Friday afternoon starting at 4.
