Champs lose to defending champs

Sunday, March 21, 2010
Summertown struck with two runs in the third inning to take a lead it would not relinquish in a 5-1 home win over Cascade on Friday.

Ben Lyons was the winning pitcher with K.J. Roberts picking up the save.

Jay Bishop started on the hill for the Champions (1-2) and went 4 1/3 innings, striking out three and walking one.

Roberts led the defending Class A state champions offensively with two doubles and two runs scored.

Ryan Rippy doubled to lead off the Champion half of the sixth. The sophomore came home on one of two doubles by Bishop.

Cascade kicks off its District 9-A schedule on Monday when Community visits at 5 p.m.
