Castleman seeks re-election to commission seat

Thursday, July 15, 2010

Edward "Ed" Castleman has announced his candidacy for re-election to an 8th District seat on Bedford County Board of Commissioners in the Aug. 5 general election.

This would be his third full term. He is a member of the commission's rules and legislative committee and a member of the Bedford County Emergency Communications District (E-911) board.

Castleman retired from the U.S. Air Force Arnold Engineering Development Center after over 33 years as a test facility craftsman. He works part time for the Shelbyville Times-Gazette.

He is a 32nd Degree Mason, a graduate of Bedford County Training School, and a member of the Arnite Lee Miller Civic and Social Club.

He and his wife, the former Marie Campbell, have been married for 52 years and have three sons and five grandchildren. He is a member of Scott United Methodist Church.

"I'm very glad we didn't have to go up on the property tax rate," said Castleman, "and not lay off county workers, plus be able to give them a slight raise."
