Rick Gann has announced his candidacy for election to a 3rd District seat on the Bedford County Board of Education in the Aug. 5 general election.

Gann and his wife, Jeanna, have been married 23 years. They have one daughter who has attended school at Community Elementary School since beginning school and will begin attending Community Middle School in the fall. Gann and his wife moved to Bedford County in 1996.

"I intend to provide a parent and law enforcement officer's perspective in furthering the direction and opportunities available to Bedford County children," Gann said. " I desire to provide a voice to all citizens of the 3rd District and to be a part of the solution in assuring Bedford County children can each their highest potential and dreams.

"I believe a partnership between parents and teachers with the school board's direction can achieve these goals. I would appreciate your support and vote for 3rd District school board member."
