These large road rollers, sometimes called roller-compactors do just what their names imply, are compacting and smoothing the surface of a new on/off ramp for the Shelbyville Bypass where it intersects with U.S. 231 north of Shelbyville. The term "steamroller" refers to the direct ancestor of these new rollers powered by diesel instead of steam engines.
