The Westwood Rockets rolled into Unionville and left with a 35-14 win over the Community Middle Vikings to spoil an excellent offensive effort from tailback Austin Bryant, who rushed for 126 yards, and quarterback Corey Mooneyham, who threw for 75 yards and a touchdown.

Bryant, who got excellent blocking from Chris Joslyn, Travis Yoes, Chase Stallings, Ryan Fears and the boys along the offensive line, tallied one run of 56 yards and another for 36 in back-to-back series in his final game as a middle school player.

As good as the Vikings (1-6) were in the second half, Westwood was even better in the first two periods as they powered their way over, around and through the Purple and Gold defense for 38 points to place the game out of striking distance.

Quarterback Andrew Waggoner was outstanding for the Rockets as he ran for two scores and passed for another to lead the visitors to their seventh consecutive win of the season.

Waggoner started the scoring when he scooped up a fumble and rambled 54 yards and scored again at the 5:16 mark in the second period with a dive just inside the pylon from six yards out.

Johnnie Galvin added a 60-yard TD run on a burst up the middle on a fourth-and-four play to take the wind out of the sails of the Viking ship just before the half.

Community came on in the second half but was unable to seriously threaten the Rocket advantage despite a valiant team effort.

The game concludes the Vikings' season.
