The whereabouts of a Shelbyville man last seen on the Sunday before Thanksgiving remain a mystery to investigators.
Bobby Smelcer, 52, was dropped off at his East Lane Trailer Park home late that morning by a co-worker, Shelbyville police were told. He was last in contact with family members that afternoon.
"We've interviewed everyone on our list of his acquaintances and who he worked with. No one had a motive," SPD Detective Sgt. Brian Crews said Thursday. "At this point we have no idea where he may be."
Smelcer's personal possessions -- including money, cell phone and identification -- were left behind in the residence, police said. He was reported missing the day after Thanksgiving by his employer-landlord, who told police he had been assigning employees to check the home regularly.
A Tennessee Bureau of Investigation mobile crime lab was brought to the home Tuesday. The TBI found, as did Shelbyville police, only a few dried blood spots near a door and no signs of a struggle. Investigators say those spots may have been there for some time.
Anyone with information about Smelcer is asked to call Shelbyville police at 684-5811.
