An Estill Springs man died Monday from injuries suffered in a single-car crash south of Shelbyville on U.S. 41A.

Wayne Allen Deuermeyer, 56, lost control of his car and struck an embankment near the Shipman's Creek Road intersection, State Trooper Barry Qualls said. The accident was reported at 8:22 a.m.

Deuermeyer was unconscious but breathing when emergency personnel arrived. He was quickly loaded into an ambulance and rushed to Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma, where he was pronounced dead at 11:10 a.m., Qualls said.

"He was northbound (toward Shelbyville) on 41A and traveled off the right hand side of the roadway," Qualls said in his report. "The vehicle became airborne over a creek and struck the opposite embankment."

Deuermeyer was wearing his seat belt and no signs of alcohol or drug use were found, Qualls said.
