Copperfield wins four-year-old championship

Copperfield and Knox Blackburn won the Four-Year-Old Walking Horse World Grand Championship (Canter) at Friday night's Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in front of a lively and appreciative crowd.

Receiving huge support and applause as well, Mr. Heisman and Brandye Mills pulled in to accept the reserve title for owners Randall & Sadie Baskin of Franklin. The LA Ritz and Joe Cotton were next for the third place honors for Rock Island, TN owners, Donnie & Charlotte Taylor.

The Owner-Amateur Lady Drivers, Fine Harness was the first class of the evening. Due to the number of entries this class was split prior to show time into two divisions. Tamara Gavin Kassar drove Westside Willie to the winner's circle in Division A, while I'm Medusa and Lynn Womack of Murfreesboro claimed the reserve tie. In Division B Joyce Myers and Chesapeake Bay claimed the victory, with Robbie Spiller skillfully driving Stretch Armstrong to reserve.

The Western Lite Shod Walking Horses World Grand Championship was won by Shelbyville's own Laurie Toone and Red Sundays Best. Lil Wayne with Bobby Richards riding for Jeff Gillespie of Tazewell, VA took the reserve honors. Double Java and Beth Sims secured the third place honors for the Mike Chiappara Family of Santa Rosa, CA.

Owner-Amateur Youth Riders 6-17 on Walking Ponies World Grand Championship saw ten entries into the arena. The victory lap adorned with the floral horseshoe for this class was done tonight by Roll The Gold and Allison Thorson of Sandusky, OH. Reserve in the class went to Prime Poison and Lilly Waites, and ACC and Jaclyn Compton accepted third.

BB Kings Jazz and Jeannae Patterson of Gulf Hammock, FL captivated the audience and judges in the Owner-Amateur Riders on Park Pleasure Walking Horses World Grand Championship. The reserve title went to Expedited and Mile Irby for Shelbyville, and King Dollar and Lisa Kessell came in third.

Next up was the Owner-Amateur Riders on Walking Horses World Grand Championship®, and Play Something County with Jeff Smith in the irons made the ride to the winner's circle. Above The Line and Brad Spivey came in for the reserve red ribbon and Absolute Proof and Meg Callaway rode in to pick up the third place ribbon.

The Ladies had it next in the Walking Horse Trainers' Auxiliary Members on Walking Horses class. Lethal Nightshade and Susan Coleman rode out with the blue for Phyllis Langley of Sand Point, Idaho. Hydrostatic with Dru McCormick up received the reserve honors for Ann Bailey of Blacksburg, VA, and I'm GI Joe and Maria Derickson rounded out the top three in this class of great horses and riders.

Owner Amateur Western Trail Pleasure World Grand Championship contenders rode in the ring next and their saddles glistened in the overhead lights. A Wicked Bond and Miles Irby took the spotlight ride to get her floral horseshoe for owners Greg & Krysta Allen of Salem, OR and Shelbyville. GiGi's Majestic and Jordan Howell took the well deserved reserve ribbon for Janet Howell of Murfreesboro, TN. Victoria's Got A Secret with Liz Gassaway up made their way to receive the third place position for Sandra Dennis of Marion, OH and Shelbyville.

Next in was the Park Performance Walking Horse World Grand Championship class. The Concealed Weapon and a very proud Patti Pollack made the winning stroll for their Silver Spur Ranch of Saratoga, CA & Shelbyville. All American Ritz, owned by Cynthia Wright of Jackson, TN received the reserve ribbon as ridden by Howard Hamilton. Third place went to Moonshine Man and Philip Trimble for Bob Cunningham of Talledaga, AL.

The next class was the Owner-Amateur Novice Riders on Novice Walking Horses World Grand Championship class. The judges found Boure and Tam Brogdon of Panama City Beach, FL to be the Champions tonight and they rode under the spotlight. Paroled From San Quenton and Ann Rea of Summit, MS picked up the second place ribbon and honors. Ritz On The Corner and Ginger Hartlein pulled in for third place keeping the awards in Shelbyville.

From Duluth, GA, Maisie McSwain rode A Victoria Secret to become the World Grand Champion in the Owner-Amateur Youth Riders on Walking Mares or Geldings, Riders 12-17 Years, World Grand Championship class. Cadillacs Bum and Lilly Waites of Hattiesburg, MS took home the reserve title while Joses Dulce and Meghan Davis from Cincinnati, OH came in third place this year.

The Walking Horses, 15.2 and Under Walking Horse World Grand Championship (Canter) was in the ring next. Lined Walkin' and Justin Harris claimed the floral horseshoe and tri color ribbon tonight for the Andrew Waites Familly. More of the Major with trainer John Allan Callaway in the irons took reserve for Jim & Judy Leek of Cedar Creek, TX. Nine Dangerous Yards rode into third with Joe Cotton up for The Walls of Shelbyville.

Command On Parole and Sheryl Crawford received the ride under the spotlight with a standing ovation tonight in the Owner-Amateur Riders on Two-Year-Old Walking Horses World Grand Championship class . Gin Rio and Becky Coleman took home the reserve honors to Greenwood, MS. He's Drawin' Attention pulled in to receive third place under the guidance of Pam Russell of Pontotoc, MS.
