Bartlett was chosen with several other Texas civic leaders because of significant work done in conjunction with the Army in San Antonio. They were taken to a height of 13,000 feet, jumped and free fell for about two miles before their parachutes opened. They glided down for the last half-mile over the next five minutes. Each made a picture-perfect landings

Bartlett is the chief operations officer of M4 Technologies, a government contracting company that supports the Army and Air Force, and the chief executive officer of Pivotal Funding Group, a financing company that funds small businesses specializing in government work. He lives in San Antonio with his wife and two children. His mother, Emily Bartlett, resides in Shelbyville.
