The 38th annual Shelbyville Christmas Parade, sponsored by Shelbyville Jaycees and Shelbyville & Bedford County Chamber of Commerce, will be held 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, with a rain date of 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. The theme will be "Old Fashion Christmas."
Cash prizes will be awarded to prize-winning entries: $250 for the grand marshal's prize, and $200, $150 and $100 for first, second and third place floats. A $200 prize will be given to each high school marching band participating.
No float entry may feature Santa, so that he will appear only once at the end of the parade. No ATVs or four-wheelers are permitted unless pulling a trailer.
The cost is $30 per entry or $5 per horse. Deadline for parade entries is 4 p.m. Nov. 28. Entry forms are available at the Chamber of Commerce building on Cannon Boulevard; completed entries should be mailed to Shelbyville Jaycees, PO Box 361, Shelbyville, TN 37162.
The parade will be held on the normal route. Lineup will be on Lane Parkway. The parade will begin at the intersection of Lane Parkway and Cannon Boulevard, proceeding south on Cannon to Holland, east on Holland to the square, north on Main to Madison, and east on Madison to Whitthorne. The parade will disperse at Whitthorne.
