Grab your photos and honor Mom in T-G photo contest

Tricia, Micah Lynn and Melonie Schmiede, an Honorable Mention winner in last year's contest.

Candid moments caught on camera impacted judges evaluating last year's Times-Gazette Mother's Day photo contest.

In one case, a top contender showed a mother and her two children goofing off in a photo booth after a long day of shopping in the mall. Another photo -- ultimately the winning photo -- depicted a mother and her daughters acting silly prior to a professional photo shoot in which the photographer snapped a shot without the subjects realizing.

The T-G will host this contest again this year, with a change that opens the contest up to mothers pictured with any and/or all of their children (sons and/or daughters) of all ages. Readers are asked to submit photos demonstrating that special mother-child bond for a chance to win a great prize and also to recognize their mother in a special section devoted to Mother's Day.

Mommy and me

The deadline for this year's "Mommy and Me" photo contest is Monday, April 30. Photos should be emailed to Entries should include identifications of anyone pictured, a photo description, and contact (including a phone number) information for the person submitting the photo.

This year's contest proves to be as exciting as last year's; the mother in the winning photograph will receive a grand prize, which includes a free one-night stay at Gaylord Opryland, breakfast for two, and a Delta boat ride. The T-G is adding to this enjoyable chance for some much-deserved rest and relaxation by offering $100 cash to the grand prize.

Winners will be announced on Mother's Day, which is May 13. Leading up to that, the T-G will print a special section honoring all contestants Wednesday, May 8.

In addition, we'll extend our salute to all mothers on Mother's Day by sharing at least one story in our Life & Leisure section. We ask readers who would like to share a unique, sentimental or funny story about their mother to contact us by calling Sadie Fowler at 684-1200 or emailing
