Mr. Thomas Virgil Burris, age 82, of the Rover community, died Sunday, Apr. 29, 2012. A native of Bedford County, Mr. Burris was a son of the late Raymond Virgil and Lillie Lloyd Burris. He was retired from Transcon Freight Lines in Nashville and Burris Farms in Unionville. Mr. Burris served in the Tennessee Army National Guard for 12 years and was a member of the Chapel Hill Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Albert and Hayden Burris and a sister, Mafalda Burris Nipper.

Survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Haynes Burris of the Rover community; a daughter, Pat (Al) Carman of Brentwood; a son, Terry Burris of the Rover community; six grandchildren, Jon (Lyla) Carman, Brad (Kelley) Burris, Kim (Zach) Watson, Allison (Jeremy) Carlton, Jeff (Kellye) Carman and Kristin (Branson) Stevens; 11 great grandchilden, Loren, Noah and Layne Burris, Lilly and Mamie Carman, Hollis, John Houston and Haddie Ann Watson, Sean and Sydnee Carlton and Jacquline Stevens; Martha Jean Burris ( mother of Brad and Allison.)

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. -- 8 p.m., Tues., May 1, 2012 at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Chapel Hill Church of Christ with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Cothran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made to the Chapel Hill Church of Christ or the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Fund.
