Union, Freed-Hardeman recognize local students

Union University honors

JACKSON - Micah Hayes is among the three hundred fifteen students who have been named to the Union University President's List for the spring 2012 semester. The President's List includes full-time students who achieve a 4.0 grade point average on a four-point scale.

Alexandra Shortridge and Zachary Thompson were among the 450 students named to the Dean's List, by achieving a 3.5 grade point average on the same scale.

Founded in 1823 and affiliated with the Tennessee Baptist Convention, Union University is characterized by quality Christ-centered teaching and learning. Union offers liberal arts training in more than 100 majors and programs of study along with professional programs in business, education and nursing. More than 4,000 students are currently enrolled.

Houston named to Dean's List

Henderson - A local student has been recognized by Freed-Hardeman University for academic achievement during the 2012 spring semester. Joshua Houston of Bell Buckle has been named to the Dean's List.

Houston is a freshman majoring in Bible studies. Inclusion on the Dean's List requires maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.40 for the semester and full-time status. Freed-Hardeman is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to offer baccalaureate and masters degrees. The university is a top tier school for the Southern region in U.S. News and World Report's annual ranking of colleges.
