It's been a long road for the Boys & Girls Club of Bedford County since it pulled into Shelbyville a little more than a year ago.
"The first week of the summer program was the first time I felt like we really had a Boys & Girls Club in Bedford County," Harrell said.
Right now, they have more than 90 kids enrolled in the summer program. And there's still room for a few more members.
Are grandma and grandpa tired of keeping the kids everyday? Are daycare costs making your bank account hurt?
These openings are especially suited for you.
With a new rate structure based on the number of family members with income scaled against the federal poverty guidelines, the most fair pricing is ensured for all applicants.
This sliding scale should help most families, and will prove to be much cheaper than daycare.
Harrell is even willing to give tours and negotiate rates with applicants when possible.
This summer, members have already been treated to a number of field trips. Typically, the kids are treated to four field trips per week, most free of additional charges to the club's low fees -- the cost per week for one child ranges from $35 to $65.
Also of note, when school starts back the club will begin their County Outreach Initiative by providing transportation afterschool from Liberty School. Registration for the after school program begins on Monday, July 2.
