Ms. Lois Louise VanDeWoestyne, age 89, of Shelbyville passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Heritage Medical Center.
She is a native of Petersburg and retired from Fly Manufacturing after many years of service. Ms. VanDeWoestyne was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Shelbyville for 54 years where she served as the church clerk for approximately 40 years.
The daughter of the late Thomas Lee Melson and Lula Cashion Melson, she was married to Leo VanDeWoestyne for 61 years and he preceded her in death in 2003. Survivors include one brother: Thomas F. Melson and his wife Elaine of Shelbyville; one nephew, Dr. Danny Melson and his wife Linda, also of Shelbyville; three nieces, Rita Castelow and her husband Rick and Renee Wiser, both of Shelbyville, and Charlyne Rodriguez of Huntsville, Alabama. She is survived by three great-nieces and six great-nephews. Ms. VanDeWoestyne is also survived by one foster grandson, Brett Ehlert of South Carolina, and her longtime caregivers, Jimmy and Susan Gray of Shelbyville and Faye Reedy, also of Shelbyville.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Gowen-Smith Chapel. Funeral services will also be on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Gowen-Smith with Brother Jimmy Gray and Brother Tom Henry officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery in Shelbyville.
